Memory Loss

The rocks used in these images came from my grandfather. He collected them over decades spent travelling around Western Australia. He gave them to me a few months before he died. To me, these rocks resonate with memories of him, time passing, and ultimately my mortality.
Yet somehow, beyond my associations, these rocks seem to carry their own ambiguity. Stranded far from the landscape from where they were torn they hover between now and then, here and there, and between presence and absence – embodying the patient resilience of a fragmenting world.
